The Greater Seattle Choral Consortium will present its first signature event, the SEATTLE SINGS! Festival October 11-12, 2013 at St. Mark’s Cathedral on Capitol Hill. The FREE event will present 27 member choirs ranging from small and large community choirs to youth choirs from all around the Puget Sound region. The SEATTLE SINGS! festival has directly benefited from a mini-grant from Washington ACDA. Other sponsors include King FM, Capitol Music, Arts Crush and St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral. NW Composers will also be featured with four group sings presenting new works by Greg Bartholomew, John Muehleisen, Carol Sams and Donald Skirvin.
In only its fourth year, the GSCC has over sixty member choirs making it one of the largest consortia in the country alongside the much longer established New York Choral Consortium and Greater Boston Choral Consortium. The organization became a 501(c)3 in 2012 and is overseen by an elected board of directors. Member choirs benefit from shared resources such as a listing in the program insert included by all choirs in their concert programs, music sharing, discounts from local businesses and outreach opportunities.
